Kathy Elliott

I am an abstract artist who uses a variety of mediums and techniques, including painting, collage, and printmaking. I alternate between painting and drawing, exploring how these two mediums tend to meld and then seem to grow apart. I play with the negative spaces and search for the quiet and safe intervals between elements, similar to those serene spaces we seek in life. For me, my artwork is a puzzle, an ambiguous equation or story that takes on a life of its own with each layer, mark, or erasure. It is addition and subtraction, just another equation to solve.
